Science and Maths get $33 Billion Boost

Following in the footsteps that China and India made over twenty years ago, the US government believe that the future of the nation belongs to the education of the children, especially in maths and science.

So in order to achieve this goal, President Bush has signed new legislation which will see thousands of staff brought into the system along with equipment upgrades for science and maths classrooms and to nurture careers of talented kids, to make sure that they follow this through into a career that falls somewhere in this field.

$33 billion has been side lined over the next three years to cover the cost of this ambitious plan, yet there are other organisations that need a cash injection, like the National Science Foundation that already has a $4.7 billion annual research budget, there are calls to see this greatly increased. While a further $300 million will go the setting up a new agency, the Advanced Research Projects Agency, which will back innovative projects which commercial backers feel are far to risky.
