Reducing waste at school

Schools can generate a huge amount of waste in a single day, and a lot of it is paper which is probably one of the easiest things to recycle, but before a school embarks on a waste reduction programme there are some questions that need answering.

How much paper is being used on a daily basis in just your classrooms alone?
Are both sides of paper utilized?
Is any of that paper recycled?
Are there recycling bins available in each classroom?
Are there still paper towels in your bathrooms?
What else constitutes paper waste at your school?

Make a list of all the school supplies
Which school supplies are healthy for the environment?
Which are not?
Which supplies can be exchanged for healthier supplies?

There is much more that can be done, but it is a great start and once the ball is rolling it become second nature to all that recycling is good for everyone.
