Scotland spends more on education than England
There have been many differences between England and Scotland over the years, but recently there has been changes that really show that Scotland believe in spending money on the people. The latest revelation is that in Scotland they spend more money on secondary education than in England.
In fact the amount being talked about is almost 25% more, on average the local authorities spend £5,771 on a secondary school pupil, whereas in England the figure is just £4,638 per pupil, that is a 24.4% difference.
But naturally both the Scottish Executive and the UK Government have been warning about making direct comparisons. As they mention that the reason why Scotland spends more per pupil is simply because of the larger land mass and smaller classes.
The problem is that when figures are released and they show such great differences in expenditure, it makes no difference to the ordinary man or woman in the street, they just see that Scotland spends more on education than England.
