What’s to name a school

Here is an idea coming out of the states, some people believe that schools should be named after education heroes.

The theory behind all of this comes from the fact that most schools in the USA are named after their geographic location, i.e. town or area etc, this may promote the local area but says nothing about education itself.

The same could apply in the UK, although there are some colleges and schools that are named after famous people, not all of them had an interest or even a connection to education.

There are many people who within the area of education that go without any praise or honour, and yet they may have improved a part, no matter how small of the education system. These are the people that schools should take their names from, and the reason why they carry that name should become part of the schools make up. Which would give the school a sense of history.
