School caretaker sues for £50,000
While doing a job you would expect to be getting on the job training as when needed, this could apply to many tools and even new jobs that have been added to the current work load. This is why when things go wrong there is always going to be trouble.
Anthony Gower-Smith, 73 from Hampshire was working as school caretaker when he fell off of the ladder that he was standing on. He suffered a fractured skull, broken cheekbone, a split kidney and had to spend time in the intensive care unit at Southampton General Hospital.
As a result the caretaker is claiming damages of at least £15,000 but this could be as high as £50,000 depending on the outcome of the case. The main point is that he did not receive training for the ladder, while Hampshire County Council deny this, both parties will need to wait until next week for the result of the case.
