It’s cheaper to study abroad
This is what students looking to head off to university in 2009 will be told and there are organisations being set up to exploit this.
However this is not quite what it may seem, because when they say that it is cheaper to study in Australia, New Zealand or even Hong Kong, what they are taking into consideration is an all in cost. This would be education fees, accommodation and living expenses, it’s the total cost not just a direct comparison between the cost of the courses.
In response the UK universities have questioned these claims that it is cheaper to study abroad, because they have not taken into consideration any of the financial support packages that are available to UK students, which would not be available should the students travel abroad to study.
Going abroad is not something that should be taken lightly, there are many things to consider, especially being so far away from family and friends, if you study in Australia, coming home for a weekend is out of the question.
