Pupils used to heat school
New school is so eco friendly that the heat generated by the bodies of the pupils and staff will be enough to keep the school heated.
Work has just started on the replacement for the Acharacle Primary School in Ardnamurchan, on the west coast of Scotland, which had seen better days, so it was decided to replace rather than make expensive repairs.
Acharacle Primary School Fact Sheet:
The new primary is due to open in 2009
It will have five classrooms, one of which will be for shared community use
A nursery, multi-purpose hall, dining facility, music practice rooms and changing rooms will also be built
The cost is estimated to be around six million pound but because the school is newly designed and built, it will be going strong for some time.
