Over 8,000 pupils miss school
It’s the start of the new school year, and yet more than 8,000 pupils are missing out on school because of the damage caused by the floods that hit the UK during the summer.
The were 857 schools affected by the flooding that hit wide ranging areas throughout the UK, yet the majority of the schools hit were able to be finished in time for the new term, but that is not helping those 8,055 pupils from the 21 schools that suffered the worst damage as these schools are still closed and are not likely to opened any time soon.
Yet this would need to addressed as soon as possible, the school term will relentlessly move on and all the time these kids are missing out.
The government have pledge more resources for these areas, but it will take more than money to prevent this type of disruption from occurring on a regular basis.
