School choices in the UK

With the new school year upon us, it is a bit late for parents to be considering what type of secondary school to send their children to, you would have thought that there was little or no choice as to what types of school are available, but you would be wrong.

Below is a list of the choices of school, which parents face:

Community Schools
Foundation Schools
Voluntary Controlled Schools
Voluntary Aided Schools
Specialist schools
Training schools
Independent Schools
City Technology Colleges
Academies
Maintained Special Schools
Non-Maintained Special Schools
Independent Special Schools

Apparently, England has the highest choice of schools for over thirty years according to the Department for Children, Families and Schools (DCFS).
