OpenLearn offers free access to OU

Looking at the OpenLearn site, you can quickly see that through this site there is access to some the Open University courses, which great, but when you find that the access is free, then that is even better.

Sponsored by the Hewlett Foundation, a new student would need to sign up and register, but once that has been done, free access is given to courses, tools and even a MyLearningSpace account for every student.

The courses are a lot more in depth compared to the other free or open course available on the Internet, but this has the backing of the Open University, which allows them to use all of the facilities like Knowledge Maps, Instant Messaging, Flash Meeting, a Learning Journal, and participate in Discussion Forums. This will enhance the user experience.

This is a great way of getting back into education, it will give the student a good ground in seeing what is required should they wish to take further courses.
