Parent’s birth to education plan

It seems that there is a mini revolution going on in the country, with the middle classes leading the way, this has to do with timing of the birth of a child and how it relates to the school year. For example if a baby is born in the autumn then is stands to reason that these children will be the oldest in their year and therefore will do better.

Research has shown that those born in September do actually stand a greater chance of success when it comes down to the exams which are held in the spring, than those who are born in July or August, however the worrying trend appears to be a conscious effort by middle class families to gain an advantage over those children who come from poorer families, this is gauged by those children who have free school meals.

There is a marked increase between both girls and boys who are born at the beginning of the school year compared to those who are born at the end. There are many views on how to prevent this from continuing and the government are looking into this report by the Institute for Fiscal studies.
