Pupil banned from Christmas party

A nine year old was banned from the school Christmas party on religious grounds, Douglas Stewart was told to stay at home while his school friends enjoyed the school seasonal festivities with a party and even presents from Santa.

So how can something like this come about?

Well it seems that the boys parents no longer wanted him to take religious education, so the teaching staff took it upon themselves to not allow the boy the attend the party, the head teacher stated that the boy had no interest in religion, and so could not celebrate the birth of Christ. But now the school maintain that there must have been a misunderstanding,
